With the rapid development of toy safety standards worldwide, it is important to have efficient and coherent audit systems in place for factories to ensure uniformity of audits. Intertek has established a network of international auditing experts who are well-trained in the requirements of various auditing protocols for the toy industry, including those set by the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI).
Established in 1974, ICTI consists of 20 toy trade associations, including countries of Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States. The council was established to ensure toys are produced in safe and humane environments. A coherent ethical standard, the Code of Business Practices and Auditing Protocol, was developed for factories to adopt and demonstrate due diligence.
Intertek is accredited, and has obtained the necessary training to conduct ICTI certification audits based on the ICTI Code of Business Practice
