Quick Dry Test

Have you ever felt frustrated trying to dry your laundry in humid weather? Have you ever been upset trying to pack your bulky daily outfits into luggage with a weight limit? Quick-dry functional clothing can definitely help you in these situations.

Quick dry is also an important property of sportswear and contributes to the prevention of heat loss, wearing comfort and light weight. This has made quick dry a common performance requirement for garments.

How can you add value to your products by providing evidence of good quick-dry features?

  • Help maintain body temperature when exercising in cold weather as heat transfer from body to a wet garment is much faster than to a dry garment
  • Demonstrate comfort fit as the friction between wetted garments and the skin increases and causes discomfort
  • Minimize clothing weight
  • Save time drying laundry, even in humid weather
  • Be more sustainable, reducing the need to use drying machine

How Does Quick Dry Work?

Quick-dry performance refers to the high speed at which the wetted fabric can be dried again through TWO-WAY transportation, in three aspects:

  • Absorbency – Drawing moisture outside to keep the skin dry

  • Wicking – Moisture is wicked and siphoned away from the body

  • Drying Rate – Evaporation of moisture into air

Intertek Hong Kong supports quick-dry testing through different testing methods:

  • AATCC 199

  • AATCC 200

  • AATCC 201

  • GB/T 21655.1, Sec.8.3

  • JIS L 1096 8.25
