Intertek Sustainability Forum – The Present and Future of the Fashion Industry

October 25, 2018

According to an EIPRO study*, clothing alone is responsible for 2% to 10% of the EU’s environmental impacts. This results in textiles coming fourth in the ranking of product categories causing the greatest environmental impact, close behind food & beverage, transport and housing.

Sustainability is becoming more and more critical in the agendas of all stakeholders in the textile and apparel industry. And on 15 November, 2018, Intertek will be hosting a sustainability forum to discuss vital sustainability trends in the industry.

Keynote speakers include Mr. Eric Swinton, founder and CEO of V Cycle, who will share his current 10-tonne PET bottle collection challenge for turning rPET into textile products, as well as Ms. Karen Ho, Head of Corporate and Community Sustainability at WWF-Hong Kong, who will present the Low Carbon Manufacturing Programme (LCMP), which offers numerous benefits for textile manufacturers.

At the same event, a panel discussion will be held with additional panel speakers Mr. CL Lam, Creative Director, Green & Associates (HK) Limited, and Ms. KitPing Au-Yeung, Global Accounts & Strategic Vendors Director, Coats plc, who will discuss sustainability trends together with our keynote speakers.
