Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products
China RoHS (also known as Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products) is a Chinese government regulation that controls the legal threshold of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, DBP, BBP, DIBP and DEHP in electrical and electronic products.
Compliance with China RoHS is mandatory for electrical and electronic products being sold into China. Manufacturers, importers, and distributors must ensure that these products meet these limits and the Declaration and Labelling Requirements of China RoHS in order to continue selling products into China.
4 New Phthalates Added to China RoHS Restricted Substances List - Effective 1 January 2026
In 2024, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (中国国家市场监督管理总局) issued Amendment No. 1 to GB/T 26572-2011, "Requirements of Concentration Limits for Certain Restricted Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" (电子电气产品中限用物质的限量要求《第1号修改单》). This amendment added four phthalates to the list of restricted substances in electrical and electronic products. The amendment will be implemented on 1 January 2026.
The four phthalates are dibutyl phthalate (DBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP). This expands the total number of restricted substances under GB/T 26572 to 10, aligning it with the EU RoHS substances list.

This amendment also updated the test methods for detecting restricted substances, referencing the GB/T 39560 series standards instead of GB/T 26125-2011.
